THE TOUR Backcountry Ski Race, 19th & 20th September 2009 (alternate date 26 & 27 Sept)
Entry Form and Waiver
The Tour will be limited to 25 teams of 2 racers (50 racers total). Entry is on a first entry form in bases, provided applicants meet the requirements set out below. Each entry form will be assessed to check that each team member has the appropriate skills and experiences to compete in a challenging winter alpine environmental over 2 days.
Ideally each entrant will have the following skills/experiences-
·Have previously competed in a ski mountaineering race and/or have a sound background in ski touring/ski mountaineering
·Be a strong down hill skier/snowboarder, experienced in a variety of off piste snow conditions
·Have all the required safety equipment- <http://thetournz.com/equipment.html>
(All required safety equipment will be checked on Friday the 18th September prior to the pre race meeting at Cheeseman’s Forrest Lodge, as well as transceiver checks before each day of racing, and random checks after each day of racing).
·Have the expected level of fitness to complete 2 days of ski touring, up to 1500 vertical meters each day (3000 vertical meters total). 2 - 6 hours each day.
NOTE- Open male and female teams, no mixed divisions, any male/female teams will count as male teams. More info at the FAQ page

Waiver of Responsibility: If you do not fully accept the following and do not sign this waiver, you will not be allowed to participate.
I, the undersigned, know that ski mountaineering as an outdoor action sport, carries significant risk of personal injury or death. I know that there are natural and man-made hazards, environmental conditions and risks, which, in combination with my actions, can cause me serious or possibly fatal injury. I agree that I as a participant must take an active role in understanding and accepting these risks, conditions and hazards. I am of sound physical and mental health and capable of competing in an endurance event. I also agree that I alone am responsible for my safety while I participate in this event, and not the organizers and officials of this event, Cheeseman Ski Area, Ski Mountaineering New Zealand, the Department of Conservation, or any race sponsors.
