Sorry folks, The Tour is cancelled for 2010. To much else on my plate for this winter and the races here just aren’t getting the numbers to make all the effort and stress worth it………
THE TOUR, a 2 day, backcountry ski touring team’s event, based in the Craigieburn Range is set to be the high light of the 2010 Ski Mountaineering New Zealand (SkiMoNZ) calendar.
THE TOUR will take place on the 14th and 15th of August 2010 and follow a similar format to some of the biggest ski mountaineering events in Europe, like the TSF and Pierra Menta. Teams of 2 will travel together, following an established course; the team with the lowest accumulated time at the end of the 2nd day will be crowned the overall winner.
Conditions permitting, participants in THE TOUR will complete the classic traverse from Craigieburn Valley, in the north, to Porters, in the south- no less than 2400 vertical meters and 15km
Entry for THE TOUR will open around early June and be limited to only 25 teams.
